A photographic diary of curiosity, memory and everyday observation
Not every photograph has a single purpose.
Some are taken for inspiration. Some become the beginning of future projects. Others simply preserve a moment. But they all begin with the same thing: curiosity.
It might be the perfect light across a bed of clouds, the unexpected colour of a wildflower, or a detail on a wall that reveals something about the history of a building.
Each photograph preserves something about that instant: what caught my attention, what I was experiencing and why, for a moment, I wanted to remember it.
Some photographs begin with food—something delicious that I want to recreate at home—and later become part of a recipe collection.
Some record an achievement and eventually become part of a personal history.
Others are taken simply because something unexpected catches my attention and, with time, become part of the memories associated with that day.
A Continuing Photographic Record
A photographer never really stops observing.
There is always something interesting to document, something colourful to remember, something unusual to investigate or something that inspires another idea.
Over time, these photographs accumulate into a visual record of everyday life.
The majority may remain unseen within the wider photographic archive. Others eventually find another purpose: an exhibition, a competition, a publication, a book cover, a creative project or a selected image shared with a wider audience.
Their significance may not always be apparent at the moment they are taken.
A photograph created from simple curiosity can later provide inspiration for an entirely different project. An individual observation can become part of a photographic study. A group of apparently unrelated images can eventually reveal a common theme.
For me, photographs are also closely connected with memory. Returning to an image can bring back the place, circumstances and experience surrounding the moment in which it was made.
The Archive therefore becomes more than a collection of images. It is a continuing photographic diary of places, observations, experiences and memories.
The Archive Selection
The complete photographic archive is extensive, so this space does not attempt to present every image.
Instead, each year is represented through a selection of ten memorable photographs chosen from everyday observations, landscapes, nature, travel, food and the unexpected details that captured my imagination.
Alongside this annual selection, the Archive records photographs entered into competitions that received recognition, including first, second and third place awards.
Together, these selections provide a continuing visual record of the photographs, experiences and moments that have remained particularly memorable.
Photographic Journal
2025
A year of travel, events and everyday observation.
Photographs from journeys through Egypt, Jordan, Mexico and London sit alongside experiences such as the Royal International Air Tattoo and horse racing, as well as unexpected discoveries—including sculpted lions appearing across the city in support of charity.
Alongside these experiences are quieter observations from daily life: sunrises, sunsets and the changing colours of the landscape.
Together, they form a photographic diary of the places visited, events experienced and moments that caught my attention throughout the year.

From Observation to Memory
The Archive begins with curiosity.
Some photographs may eventually become part of an exhibition, publication or creative project. Others may never move beyond the moment they preserve.
Both have value.
Together, they create an evolving record of what I have seen, experienced and chosen to remember.
